The 2020 Marsannay Clos de Jeu is similarly superb, mingling notions of sweet berries and blood orange with scents of vine smoke and dark chocolate. Medium to full-boded, ample and fleshy, with a broad attack that segues into a suave, seamless mid-palate and a mineral finish, it will offer a broad drinking window.
Cyril Audoin has turned in another superb performance in the 2020 vintage,delivering wines of perfume, energy and precision that transcend stereotypesof their appellation. Marsannay nourishes a number of high-quality domaines,and the village offers rich pickings for wine lovers, but Audoin mightwell be my favorite. What's more, anyone who laments rising prices in theC・・te d'Or s hould take note of the terrific value this estate's wines represent , because quality at this level should honestly cost quite a bit more.
